Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of school administrators and teachers about proficiency of the school administrators. A survey model was used with a sample of 108 school administrators and 290 teachers working in the city centre of Kütahya. The data were gathered through "Inventory on Proficiency of School Administrators". Data analysis was conducted through descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis analysis. According to the findings, although school administrators perceived themselves more proficient than teachers perceived them to be in all dimensions, the opinions of school administrators and teachers differentiated in the dimensions "Interacting with People-Working Efficiently" and "Service to Profession". Opinions of school administrators didn't differentiate according to school type, having in-service training and having training of administration, but differentiated according to seniority. Opinions of teachers about school administrators differentiated according to school type and seniority, but didn't differentiate according to whether they had administrative experience.
