Abstract

Starting from the recent publication of Justino Magalhaes, O mural do tempo: manuais escolares em Portugal, the present paper intends to initiate a reflection on the importance of textbooks during the centuries in the Portuguese school system well as on the role of textbooks in the formation of the collective mentality.
