Abstract
This study was intended to analyze students’ difficulties in implementing numerical literacy in Cirebon local wisdom-oriented problem solving. The method of data collection in this study was a numerical literacy test and interview. The test was in the form of three descriptive questions with indicators of numerical literacy ability. The research subjects of this descriptive qualitative research were three eighth-grade students of MTs Negeri 11 Cirebon. They were selected respectively, a poor proficiency student, a medium proficiency student, and high proficiency student. The category was classified by students’ test results and under consideration of the math teacher. The study deduced that students have difficulty solving Cirebon local wisdom-oriented numerical literacy test on social arithmetic material since they had lack numbers, language, arithmetic, and information skills. Based on the results, a student with poor proficiency had difficulties in number facts, language skills, arithmetic skills, and information skills. In addition, the student also experienced misconceptions on material “Discount” which caused students to make mistakes in performing mathematical calculations. Then, a moderate proficiency student had a deficiency in language, arithmetic, and information skills. Lastly, a high proficiency student had a problem in arithmetic skills which influence the information skills.
