Resumo Nesse artigo discute-se o papel de Richard Feynman na nanotecnologia a partir de um dos seus textos mais citados, a palestra There is plenty of room at the bottom – an invitation for a new Field of Physics. É discutido o contexto histórico da época de sua concepção, as possíveis inspirações nas quais o autor se baseou e a influência décadas depois, quando a palestra foi redescoberta e necessária no estabelecimento da nanotecnologia como campo do conhecimento.Abstract We discuss in this article Richard Feynman's role in nanotechnology from the point of view of one of his most cited texts, namely the speech There is plenty of room at the bottom – an invitation for a new Field of Physics. We discuss the historical context of the time it was conceived, possible inspirations for the author and the influence decades later, when the speech was rediscovered and necessary in establishing nanotechnology as a new field of knowledge.
