Abstract
Phenothiazine and its 3-methyl-, 3-chloro-and 5-nitro derivatives have been prepared by a new method which consists in the condensation of aniline, p-toluidine, p-chloro aniline and p-nitro aniline respectively with cyclohexanone followed by heating the resultant Schiff bases with sulphur at 260-280 o C for six to eight hours. The compounds have been identified by comparison with authentic samples.
