Technology, health and co-production. Uniting strategies to combat the public health crisis of COVID-19

Abstract

This article presents the case of a Telemedicine platform that integrated technology, health and co-production to serve the population. Lauduz was the first telemedicine platform created in a Brazilian city to respond to the COVID-19 health emergency. The objective of the research is to show how the interfaces between technology and health together with the coproduction of public goods and services contributed to face the public health crisis generated by the pandemic. A qualitative analysis and a questionnaire to the CEO of Lauduz were carried out, which showed that coproduction was fundamental for the success of the actions carried out; precisely because there was a great collaboration to provide on line health care to patients with flu symptoms to prevent the further spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, all of which represented an innovation in the area of public health.
