Abstract

After publication of the original article [1], it was noticed that the following corrections needed to be implemented: 1. Claudia Neunaber belongs to the Trauma Department of the Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany and is in charge of the research department. 2. Some important publications describing animal models combining chest trauma and fractures of the long bones have not been cited in the original article and have been included. Sections of the background part that highlight the uniqueness of the presented combination of thorax trauma and femur fracture stabilized by intramedullary fixation are capable of being misunderstood. Therefore, the appropriate sections have been corrected in this Correction article below.
