Abstract

Glasses from the systems xMO?(100-x)[P2O5?Li2O] (MO?=?Fe2O3 or V2O5) with 0 ≤ x ≤ mol % were prepared in the same conditions and characterized by IR spectroscopy. It was established the mode in which both Fe2O3 and V2O5 influences the local structure of these glasses. The iron ions generally modify in a different way the local structure of these glasses then vanadium ions. The results shown that phosphate units are the main structural units of glass system and the iron and vanadium ions are located in the network.
