Ecohouse concept study on langkie jiku sorabi traditional house in Tidore Islands North Maluku

Abstract

Traditional houses in Indonesia are traces of the history of Indonesian architecture, which is in realisation is influenced by various aspects in harmonising human life with nature. Other aspects such as tradition, religion and politics in the realisation of traditional houses in each indigenous community. The process of building a traditional house pays close attention to the climate and conditions of the surrounding natural environment, so as to reduce environmental damage due to the use of materials from nature. The environmentally friendly development process applied to the langkie jiku sorabi traditional house in Tidore islands is one of the solutions in overcoming environmental damage or better known as ecohouse. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, which is a method that focuses on exploration activities, understanding a meaning in research objects, individuals and groups, and examining a reality that is deep and straightforward. Application of the ecohouse concept can be studied in the langkie jiku sorabi traditional house in Tidore islands. The research was conducted on the langkie jiku sorabi traditional house in Tidore islands which is part of North Maluku architecture. This research aims to examine the application of the ecohouse concept in the langkie jiku sorabi traditional house through a review of architectural elements and the use of building materials.
