In this chapter we review the common URIs-pharyngitis, otitis, sinusitis, and epiglottitis-and briefly outline some of the more unusual but potentially severe head and neck infections. The pertinent anatomical and microbiological characteristics, clinical manifestations, diagnostic issues, and therapy are discussed.
