Abstract
Introduction: Teachers' job security is crucial, as their voice is a fundamental tool. Absenteeism in teachers is related to vocal pathologies caused by vocal overload, stress and acoustic environments. This study sought to determine the vocal symptomatology of primary and secondary school teachers and its relationship with quality of life in order to propose promotion and prevention measures. Methodology: The Voice Handicap Index (VHI-30) and the Quality of Life Index (QLI) were applied to a sample of 103 teachers in Soacha and Madrid, Colombia. The data were analyzed with SPSS version 29. Results: The findings reveal that most of the teachers present mild vocal symptomatology that does not significantly affect their performance. There is a significant correlation between VHI and QLI, showing a close interaction between vocal health and general well-being of teachers. Conclusions: It is necessary for institutions to implement strategies for the promotion and prevention of vocal symptomatology to improve the health and well-being of teachers.
