Abstract

Two organic-inorganic compounds based on Keggin anions and lanthanide ions have been synthesized. Their chemical formulae are [Eu(C2H6SO)8][PMo12O40] (1) and [Er(C2H6SO)8][PMo12O40] 2(C2H6SO) 1/2H2O (2), respectively. They have been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, thermal analyses and cyclic voltammetry measurements. 1 and 2 crystallize in the space groups P1 and P21 c, respectively. Their catalytic activity toward organic dyes is quite sizeable since the target removal after 120 min is about 78.6% in the presence of the system [Eu(C2H6SO)8][PMo12O40]/H2O2 and 60.3% in the presence of the system [Er(C2H6SO)8][PMo12O40]·2(C2H6SO)·1/2H2O/H2O2.
