Abstract
Selecting the best employee in an organization needs a lot of criteria and aspects to be considered especially on the contribution towards that particular organization. In order to perform this selection fairly and effectively, many organizations apply various methods that are suitable for this problem. Hamming distance method is one of the multicriteria decision making methods that can be used either in discrete or interval form. In this paper, we employ the method of Hamming distance to solve the staff performance evaluation by using the crisp and fuzzy approaches. Based on the numerical application, the final results showed that both approaches produce almost similar results. However, these two approaches have their own advantages according to the desires of the decision makers.
