Abstract

Hematite pellets were reduced step-wise from Fe//2O//3 to Fe//3O//4, Fe//3O//4 to Fe//xO, and finally Fe//xO to Fe by CO-CO//2 mixtures in the temperature range from 800 to 1050 degree C. The hematite pellets were made from pyrite cinder, and the porosity was approximately 13%. Experimental data for each reduction step were analyzed in terms of the mixed-control kinetics based on the isothermal unreacted-core model.
