Abstract

In studying chemistry,the ability of problem solving is crucial,it is not only to expect student to master the concep but also to apply those concep in solving the problem.But, in the class it is only to emphasize to master the concep and ignore the ability to solve the problem. The ability to solve the problem is still very low. Therefore the writer is trying to construct analysis the ability in solving the problem: how student's ability in solving the problem dealing with chemistry question and how should the teacher react to handle the difficulty of those matter. Qualitative descriptive methode is used in this reasearch with the subject of reaserch is 36 students of SMAN 1 Karangnunggal XI IPA 3 class. The result of the research shows that 32 % students having difficulty in solving the problem, 26% in mastering the concep and formula, 18% in applying the formula, 17 in analyzing graphic and picture and 7 % in making resume in material that have been studied. Those difficulties are shown when students doing the question in the matter of kinematics,temperature and heat. Based on the questionnaire, 76% students forget and dont understand the concep, 19% less understand the problem solving and 5 % know how to solve the problem.
