Abstract

The bremsstrahlung photon emission rate from a Maxwellian plasma for photon energies greater than a given threshold value is expressed in terms of a rapidly converging series. The results are used to determine the applicability of soft X-ray diagnostic techniques for laser produced plasmas as a function of electron temperature and detector threshold energy.
