Abstract

A part of the project WINA, sponsored by the German Ministery of Science and Technology, we are studying the integration of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) with a rule based Expert Systems. The methods of integrating ANN with XPS can be classified into four different approaches: Neural Approximative Reasoning, Neural Unification, Introspection and Integrated Knowledge Acquisition. Each approach is explained and results of our own realizations of the different approaches are briefly discussed.
