Abstract

The article aims to examine the meanings and applications that can be inferred from the expression “reading of the world” in Paulo Freire’s work, and to discuss the limits of the use of this expression, as well as its contextualization. Therefore, we organized the discussion in two sessions: the first deals with the emergence of Freire’s thinking and the awareness of belonging to the world; the second deals with Freire’s understanding of “reading of the world”, especially considering the relationship between reading and the actions of read and study from the perspective of this author.
