Abstract

Urban farming, or what is known as urban agriculture, is a concept that has been quite interesting to many people, especially those who are not in urban areas. This concept is one of the initiatives carried out by several environmentalist communities to provide good benefits for the urban environment. IoT certainly requires a sensor that must be connected to a microcontroller, and the sensor will send data to the destination storage. The use of IoT for agriculture can help to collect measurement data. The data collected is not only for remote monitoring purposes but is used to calculate crop water requirements and various other solutions. This data will also be useful for various stakeholders, especially in making decisions related to agricultural policies. In addition, the current pandemic conditions have made many people start to enjoy a new hobby, namely planting. In accordance with the concept of IoT & Internet, the public can apply it to help monitor the progress of plants grown online. Not only that, with online monitoring via smartphones, it is easier for the public to find out the content received through IoT sensors & see it directly on the mobile app. With this, people do not need to spend much time and can save time pursuing the hobby of planting. The purpose of this study is how to design a monitoring system to support smart farming using IoT. The research method consists of three stages: interview and observation, requirement analysis for system monitoring, and design of system monitoring. The results of this study are System Requirements for IoT Urban Farming Monitoring System, business model IOT Urban Farming Monitoring Systems, and the SSD diagram IoT Urban Farming Monitoring system.
