Abstract
We present a new technique, the solvent-assisted deposition in plasma (SADIP), for the coating glass slides by 34 ± 16 nm sized zinc nanoparticles. Using this method glass was coated by a very dense and homogeneous layer of nanoparticles. In addition, zinc nanoparticles did not oxidize rapidly, as can be expected, due to their low reduction potential. The reason for zinc stability in air atmosphere was attributed to the penetration (̃40 nm depth) of zinc nanoparticles inside the glass. In addition to glass slides, we used this coating method to deposit Zn on different conductive surfaces including silicon wafers and aluminum foil. © 2009 American Chemical Society.
