Abstract

The main aim of this paper was to optimize recycled aggregate concrete mixture with recycled masonry aggregate for structural utilization to find an efficient way of construction and demolition waste utilization. This paper presents the characteristics of recycled masonry aggregate and recycled masonry aggregate concrete. The concrete mixtures were optimized according to future use as the structural element for internal wall and foundations. The same type of recycled masonry aggregate was used as a full replacement of natural aggregate for concrete mixtures. Each mixture had a different amount of cement with various effective water-cement ratios. The mechanical and physical properties of RMA concretes were examined to find the optimal concrete mixture. Results of mechanical and physical properties show and confirm the influence of recycled masonry aggregate to properties of concrete. However, the results show the possibility of RMAC utilization for construction.
