Recueil d’une pharmacopée à Mayotte

Abstract

Ce texte, issu d’un long dialogue de travail, présente le savoir ethnobotanique de Maoulida Mchangama, habitant de Mayotte, mis en forme par Pascale Salaün en poste pendant plusieurs années dans l’île. Cette présentation part d’une soixantaine de maladies courantes dans la nosographie locale et cite les plantes et la manière dont elles sont utilisées pour les soigner. Plusieurs collaborations avec les botanistes et un médecin ont enrichi le texte (notes et commentaires). Les plantes citées sont identifiées sous leur nom vernaculaire en shimaore et en kibushi, les deux langues parlées à Mayotte. Des listes permettent de retrouver les plantes citées à partir de leur identification botanique ou de leurs noms vernaculaires. Une notice biographgique issue d’un entretien avec Maoulida Mchangama éclaire les conditions de transmission de ce savoir.This text, stemming from a long working dialogue, presents the knowledge about medicinal plants of Maoulida Mchangama, inhabitant of Mayotte. It has been shaped by Pascale Salaün who has worked during several years on the island. This presentation displays about sixty common diseases or health problems in the local nosography and quotes the plants and the way they are used to cure them. Collaborations with botanists and a medicine doctor enriched the text (notes and comments). The quoted plants are identified under their vernacular names in Shimaore and in Kibushi, both spoken languages in Mayotte. Lists register plants from their botanical identification or from their vernacular names. A biographic note stemming from an interview with Maoulida Mchangama informs about the conditions of transmission of this knowledge.
