The absorption lines in the spectrum of the large-redshift QSO 4C 05.34 are reported, and a preliminary analysis is presented. Evidence is found for five separate absorption-line redshifts, all of which are less than the emission-line value. The distribution of absorption lines is striking in that essentially all unidentified lines are locare on the short-wavelength sode of the L_\alpha emission lin. A probable explanation of this effect is discussed.
