We report recovery of consciousness and integrative brain functions in a child after acute brain damage following hypoperfusion after congenital heart disease surgery with cardioplegia and cardiopulmonary bypass. The issues of complex diagnosis of functional reserve for consciousness recovery and pathogenetic approaches to intensive care are discussed.
