Abstract

This work aims at providing factual details necessary for the utilization of diverse feedstock for anaerobic digestion (AD) to produce biogas using either conventional or nonconventional types of digesters. This is necessary as different substrates had peculiar merits or potentials of biogas production due to their unique characteristics. Selection of right feedstock is usually based on sustainability, quantity, output requirement, availability and metallic nutrient content apart from digester type which is affected by the weather condition of the location among other factors. Global biogas production is increasing annually, especially in areas of biogas utilization for electricity generation, heating and fuel for transportation.
