Tradisi Jajuluk (Pemberian Nama) Dalam Pernikahan Adat (Studi Living Hadis Pada Suku Komering di Kota Palembang)

Abstract

There is a tradition in South Sumatra guided by the Prophet's hadith about giving good names to his descendants. The Komering Tribe in Palembang is trying to bring it to life by making it a tradition commonly called the jajuluk tradition. This jajuluk tradition is a tradition that is continuously maintained in the life of the Komering community when undergoing traditional marriages. This paper explicitly examines the jajuluk tradition in traditional weddings in Palembang with the Living Hadith approach. Using the cultural anthropology method of Clifford Geertz and the living hadith approach, it was concluded that the Prophet's hadith about giving a good name by the Komering Palembang tribe was developed into a tradition with the name jajuluk. They believe that jajuluk contains six meanings, namely jajuluk as prayer, jajuluk as identity, reviving ancestral names, as a symbol or sign of being married, strengthening family ties, and meaning friendship. These six meanings of jajuluk prove that every tradition rooted in society has its specialties in the local area and must be preserved.
