Abstract
The concern is brought up by Selam Mihreteab, Manager, National Malaria Control Program Ministry of Health Asmara, State of Eritrea, who attests that the paper was published without the correct paperwork and permissions from the Ministry of Health in Eritrea. The corresponding author, Dr. Carlo Severini, Department of Infectious, Parasitic and Immunomediated Diseases, Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), Rome, Italy attests that they acted in good faith, as the samples were brought into their lab, accompanied by the original Ethical Clearance document released from Eritrean Ministry of Health, which they assumed was enough for further study. With the present evidence, the Editor-in-Chief of Infection, Genetics and Evolution cannot judge whether the views of either party are correct. This note will remain appended to the above-mentioned article until the Editor-in-Chief receives further information or the dispute is resolved.
