Abstract

Electronic Health Records (EHR) Systems and Applications is one of the required courses in the Graduate Health IT Certificate Program at Kennesaw State University. When the course was first designed, it focused on clinical workflow and system design for the EHR systems while virtual labs and an EHR simulation were being used for hands-on. We recently redesigned learning materials and hands-on exercises by using open source systems to introduce design and development of EHR systems, usability assessment, and security vulnerabilities in the EHR implementation.
