COVID-19 Sürecinde Türkiye Turizminin Mekansal Görünümü: Hangi İl Nasıl Etkilendi?

Abstract

Dünyada olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de COVID-19’un turizm sektörü üzerindeki olumsuz etkisi hala devam etmektedir. Ulusal düzeyde turizmin olumsuz etkilerini azaltmaya yönelik bazı önlemler alınmasına karşın, seyahat kısıtlılıklarının devam etmesi ve turizme olan talebin azalması Türkiye’de turizm endüstrisinin kaybını her geçen gün daha fazla derinleştirmektedir. Türkiye genelinde salgının turizm sektörüne olan olumsuz etkisi her ilde farklı boyutta yaşandığından, COVID-19 sürecinde hangi illerin ne derece etkilendiği konusu önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, COVID-19’un Türkiye turizmine etkisinin iller düzeyindeki farklılaşan görünümünü incelemektir. Çalışmanın veri kaynağını, Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nın 2019 ve 2020 yıllarına ait illere göre turizm istatistikleri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle, 2019 ve 2020 yılı Türkiye’ye seyahat amaçlı gelen ziyaretçilerin illere göre mekânsal dağılımı incelenmiş, sonrasında ise illerin azalan ziyaretçi sayılarının hem oransal olarak hem de 1000 kişideki karşılığına göre mekânsal görünümü değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın bulgularına göre, Türkiye’de COVID-19 sürecinden en fazla etkilenen illerin aynı zamanda turizmin en hızlı büyüdüğü iller olması, Türkiye turizminde mekânsal olarak bazı illerde sınırsız büyümenin sorunlu olduğunu ve özellikle bu illerde “küçülme” kavramının tartışılması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.The negative impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector both in Turkey and in the world is still continuing. Some measures at the national level are taken to reduce the negative effects of COVID-19 on tourism. However, due to reduced demand and the continuation of the travel restrictions, the loss of the tourism industry in Turkey is deepening more and more every day. The negative impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector in Turkey is experienced in different sizes in each province. Therefore, the issue of which provinces are affected by the COVID-19 process is important. The purpose of this study is to examine the spatial view and the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism of the provinces. The data source of the study is the tourism statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism according to the provinces in 2019 and 2020. In the first part, the spatial distribution of visitors traveling to Turkey for the years 2019-2020 was examined. Afterward, the spatial appearance of this distribution is evaluated according to the number of visitors decreasing per 1000 people. The most important result of the study is that the most affected provinces by COVID-19 are the fastest-growing provinces in tourism in Turkey. Therefore, unlimited growth is problematic in some provinces in Turkey and the concept of “degrowth” must be discussed in tourism in Turkey.
