Abstract
This paper analyzes the evolution of Vickers micro-hardness in progressively drawn eutectoid steels focussing the study on the characteristic sections of the wires. The average value of the Vickers microhardness was calculated for each section according to its symmetry, thus studying the variation of these values with cold drawing. The indentation marks after the tests demonstrate the anisotropy caused by the cold drawing process itself on the eutectoid steel, and a finite element modelling allows one to finish material characterization. © 2011 ISIJ.
