Rubella in Pregnancy

Abstract

Foetal lesions were found in three cases out of six where pregnancy was terminated because of rubella in the first trimester of pregnancy. In a fourth case there may have been an abnormality. It is suggested that the foetal lesions are the result of cell destruction following upon invasion by rubella virus. It is also suggested that the virus may continue to survive, perhaps indefinitely. © 1960, British Medical Journal Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
