Abstract

Several authors have documented the phenomenon of spontaneous cavitation within both primary lung cancers and metastatic pulmonary nodules. Cavitation after treatment, particularly chemotherapy, has not been emphasized. We report on 3 patients who developed radiographic evidence of cavitation of pulmonary metastases as a direct response to systemic chemotherapy. Copyright © 1980 American Cancer Society
