The management of the common as new forms of citizenship. The case of migrant community care workers in Córdoba, Argentina

Abstract

This paper sets out to analyze the articulation between social policies and management of the common, from reconstructing the community care practices of Peruvian migrant women in the "Salas Cuna", a program implemented by de government of the province of Cordoba (Argentina) oriented to the care of children from 45 days to 3 years that live in peripheral neighborhoods. Based on a qualitative methodology, this study argues that the management of the common developed by migrant women in urban relegation areas expresses the way in which the State enables concrete forms of differential inclusion, anchored to a territory and configured by strong gender and class constraints, which promotes the configuration of citizenship practices.
