Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease incurable but can be controlled. Hypertension in the elderly increases around the world including indonesia, along with aging and the process of degenerative.Urgency screening activities among elderly needs to be done to detect early hypertension in elderly. This research aims to describe Screening Hypertension in Elderly. This study uses descriptive analytic, crosssectional approach. Sample of 36 elderly with accidental sampling. The research instruments used in used a questionnaire screening risk hypertension and measurement of blood pressure by using sphygnomanometer. Data analysis used Chi Square statistical test with a significance level of < 0.05. From the results show respondents at risk of suffering from hypertension were 107 (52.2%) no-risk hypertensive and as many as 98 (47.8) at risk of developing hypertension. There was no relationship between marital status, age, and sex, with the risk of hypertension with p value 0.530, 0.434 and 0.508. Hypertension Screening can be done as early detection to determine the patient's health status in the elderly.
