Abstract

In previous papers the physicochemical properties and neuromuscular blocking action of suxamethonium were reviewed. In this article some of the undesirable effects of the drug are discussed. The actions on the heart, respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, eye, central nervous system and uterus are particularly noted and histamine releasing and placental crossing properties of the drug are mentioned. 100 references are cited.
