Abstract

A number of interesting and useful textbooks about paleomagnetism and related subjects have appeared during the last decade. One of the most recent is Paleomagnetism: Continents and Ocean by Michael W. McElhinny and Phillip L. McFadden. This new contribution represents a significant update of the classic 1973 edition of Palaeomagnetism and Plate Tectonics by McElhinny, a text that has been used through the years by countless students and geoscientists interested in paleomagnetism, rock magnetism, and the applications of paleomagnetism to plate tectonics.
