Abstract

Water resource management in the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta faces complex challenges, including limited clean water supply, water pollution, and increased flood risk. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the implementation of water management policies and the principles of sustainable development in the urban context of Jakarta. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, which combines literature studies, policy analysis, and secondary data from related institutions, and secondary data taken from various reference sources such as scientific articles, books, theses, and related studies that have been published. The results of the study show that although various policies have been implemented such as river normalization, drainage infrastructure development, and increased wastewater treatment capacity. However, its implementation still faces obstacles in terms of cross-sector coordination, public participation, and long-term environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the overexploitation of groundwater and the conversion of green open spaces exacerbate ecological vulnerabilities in the region. Therefore, a holistic and integrative, and ecosystem-based policy reformulation is needed to support sustainable water management and environmental resilience.
