Abstract

Molar gestations can lead to serious maternal complications. In addition, placental trophoblasts may generate an array of uterine and gestational complications such as trophoblastic tumors and choriocarcinomas related to molar gestations. Complications associated with partial and complete hydatidiform moles are evident both antenatally and postnatally. Sonography is an essential tool to aid in the diagnosis of molar gestations and postnatal trophoblastic disorders. Prenatal sonographic findings in a case of partial mole and a review of the pathophysiology of this anomaly are presented.
