Abstract

Lately a research trend suggested that we deepen the knowledge of work in associations. This paper follows that suggestion and focuses on the working activity of volunteers from the Secours Populaire. The collective they constitute daily realises tasks which, on the face of it, aren't easy; they require organisation and for volunteers and employees to be prepared for the task. In these surroundings, the impression the volunteers get of the conditions in which they perform these tasks does not vanish behind the militant faith. Some are tempted to be discouraged when they feel they are not supported enough in the surroundings in which they have to work. It is really hard, in the associative context, to work out such a situation insofar as it appeals to categories (such as organisation and involvement into work), the legitimacy of which is very much questioned.
