Abstract

A 60-year-old female visited our hospital with ascending colon cancer after operation of transverse colon cancer, which had been histologically revealed as well-differentiated adenocarcinoma (ss, 1y0, v0, n0). Right hemicolectomy was performed. Histological examination of the resected specimen of the colon revealed mucosal cancer of adenoma type IIa (signet ring cell carcinoma), and a mucosal-infiltrated type IIa (well-differentiated adenocarcinoma), and type 1 cancer (moderately-differentiated adenocarcinoma) in the ascending colon. This case was a very rare case of signet ring cell carcinoma in adenoma with synchronous multiple carcinomas (4 lesions) of the colon.
