Abstract

During adolescence and young adulthod a significant number of changes in young people arise, enabling them to develop new relationships guided by proximity, intensity and intimacy with peers and romantic partners. In a sample of 827 young 13 to 25 years, this study aims to analyze in which way romantic attachment effects on psychological well-being of young people from intact and divorced families. There were significant differences in romantic attachment on family configuration. However, no significant differences were found on psychological wellbeing. It was found that well-being is positively predicted by confidence to romantic partner and negatively by dependency and avoidance. The results will be discussed according to attachment theory view in what concerns to development and quality of romantic relationships in adolescence and young adulthood in order to realize their contribution in young psychological well-being.
