Abstract

The diamond-shaped tetraborane(6) 1 and its pyridine adduct 2 are the first aromatic compounds in two πelectrons display cyclic F delocalization over four and three boron centers, respectively (see scheme). The two compounds contain the shortest B-B distances ever observed. R = SiMe3, Pyr = 4-tertbutylpyridine.
