Abstract
This article locates Critical Men's Studies within the interdisciplinary field of research dealing with inequality. From the perspective of critical theory a critical review of important concepts of Critical Men's Studies is undertaken. It will be demonstrated that theoretical frameworks of « hegemonic masculinity » and « patriar-chal dividend » shouldn't be seen as single issues, but as complex constellations of social phenomena. A theoretical shift like this brings together a structural dimension (patriarchy) with a dimension of difference (within the group of men). The concept of articulation describes the form of linkage of different elements in the sex-gender-system. The idea of articulation also provides the basis for universalizing fights against male domination and inequality among women and men to other fields of injustice. © Lucius & Lucius, Stuttgart.
