Abstract

The concept and new categorization of environmentally conscious materials, ecomaterials, is proposed. Advanced steps ranging from high eco-efficiency of products, to consumer-oriented and regional community adaptation are introduced. An additional new concept, the robust design of materials, is also proposed as part of a new range of activities in ecomaterials. © 2013 The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials.
