Abstract

Describes the unique flora and fauna of the Australian continent which is stabilized by frequent fires caused by lightning and aboriginal people. Natural fire regimes were replaced by limited burning and extensive server fires which caused extreme soil erosion and siltation, and placing many threatened species on the verge of extinction.
