Abstract

The author presents some socio-educational projects based on children’s participation and self-governance under the name “children’s city”, which have been practised in several European countries since the 1980s. The author analyses the projects from the point of view of the extent to which they promote children’s active citizenship and contribute to the transformation of adultist and exclusionary and adult-centred structures of the cities in the children’s best interests.
