Abstract
In a speech delivered at the 56th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America, Joseph T. Freeman gives an overview of the concept of comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA), its history as a central guiding principle of geriatrics, its rationale, and research evidence for its effectiveness. He also discusses the key aspects of CGA and explains why the effectiveness data seems to have varied between trials and over the years.
