Abstract

A comparative study of structural and luminescence properties of ZnO:Ce3+ nanophosphors prepared by combustion method and solid-state reaction method is presented in this study. The powder XRD exhibits hexagonal wurtzite phase and crystallite size falls in the nanometre range. The optical band gap reduction is less in samples synthesized by combustion method. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of ZnO:Ce excited at near-ultra violet region (325 nm) gives an evidence of its wide range of applications in lighting purposes.
