Abstract

A new, stable, efficient algorithm is presented which models Fresnel diffraction accurately for arbitrary two-dimensional apertures. The algorithms limitation are primarily a function of the computation speed available, expressed in tradeoffs between time and accuracy. While the general algorithm can handle any arbitrary aperture, the algorithm designed to address efficiently simple apertures is more appropriate for educational and theoretical investigation.
