Evolución de las licencias federativas de pádel en España: análisis por sexo y comunidad autónoma

Abstract

The growth of padel worldwide has been significant in recent years, leading to an increase in the demand for studies analyzing its evolution and distribution. In this context, the objective of this study has been to examine the evolution of padel federation licenses in Spain since 2013, with a focus on differences by gender and autonomous communities. To achieve this, official sources from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training have been analyzed, allowing for an understanding of the number of federation licenses in padel differentiated by gender, autonomous community, and year, covering the period from 2013 to 2023. The data obtained show that the total number of federation licenses has reached 112,127 across both genders, demonstrating significant growth in both men's and women's padel. In 2013, there were 35,195 licenses registered for men and 13,405 for women, while in 2023, these figures increased to 77,184 and 34,943, respectively. At the regional level, Cataluña has remained the community with the highest number of federation licenses since 2013, followed by Madrid and Andalucía, which also have a high number of federated players. These data are of great interest and importance, as they provide insight into the current state of padel at the national level, facilitating the development of strategies for its promotion and encouraging a more equitable distribution of resources based on observed trends.El crecimiento del pádel a nivel mundial ha sido significativo en los últimos años, lo que ha generado un aumento en la demanda de estudios que analicen su evolución y distribución. En este contexto, el objetivo del presente estudio ha sido examinar la evolución de las licencias federativas de pádel en España desde 2013, con un enfoque en las diferencias por género y por comunidades autónomas. Para ello, se han analizado fuentes oficiales del Ministerio de Educación y Formación Profesional, permitiendo conocer el número de licencias federativas en pádel diferenciadas por sexo, comunidad autónoma y año, abarcando el periodo comprendido entre 2013 y 2023. Los datos obtenidos muestran que el número total de licencias federativas ha alcanzado las 112.127 en ambos géneros, evidenciando un crecimiento significativo tanto en pádel masculino como femenino. En 2013, se registraban 35.195 licencias en hombres y 13.405 en mujeres, mientras que en 2023 estas cifras aumentaron a 77.184 y 34.943, respectivamente. A nivel autonómico, Cataluña se mantiene como la comunidad con el mayor número de licencias federativas desde 2013, seguida por Madrid y Andalucía, que también presentan un elevado número de jugadores federados. Estos datos resultan de gran interés e importancia, ya que permiten conocer el estado actual del pádel a nivel nacional, facilitando el desarrollo de estrategias para su promoción y fomentando una distribución más equitativa de recursos en función de las tendencias observadas.
